Perfect fruit for summers: watermelon
Watermelon is a perfect fruit for summers. Full of water (evidently) that hydrates our body it has very low calorie content. Therefore I do not have to worry about gaining weight, and can have a plate full of watermelon slices without feeling guilty. This fruit is nutritious as well, as it is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
I had kept watermelon pieces in freezer to quickly chill them, but forgot to take them out in time. Now I had frozen watermelon pieces. I decided to prepare a smoothie as I had no intention of eating frozen watermelon. I neither wanted thawed but soft, mellowed pieces.
My mother-in -law preferred to sprinkle some salt and black pepper powder on her watermelon slices. Taking that idea, I added some black pepper powder and salt in my smoothie. I decided to add some mint, as it is summer, and mint gives freshness, and some strawberry crush to add some sweet-sour flavor. Little bit of lemon juice perfectly balanced the taste. Blending everything yielded very refreshing watermelon smoothie.

This is a soothing drink perfect for summers. I have removed seeds from watermelon pieces, and then frozen the pieces, to get cold and slightly thick smoothie.
|
- 1 and half cup watermelon pieces thinly sliced, seed removed
- 2 tablespoons strawberry crush
- 2 sprigs fresh mint leaves
- salt to taste
- 1 pinch black pepper powder
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Remove seeds from the watermelon slices, and keep them in freezer for about half an hour. This will help in getting chilled and a little slushy smoothie.
- Add all the ingredients in blender, and blend till you get smooth liquid.
- Pour in a glass. Do not strain, as it is a smoothie which should be slightly thick. Taste, and if there is any need of adjusting salt or pepper, adjust it.
- Decorate the glass with mint leaves, lemon slice, or small watermelon slices. Serve chilled.
Tips:
- Cut thin slices of watermelon. This helps in removing all seeds easily
- Keep the slices in freezer for at least half an hour to get chilled smoothie with thick consistency.
