Pinwheel Sandwich – Easy Recipe

Today I will share a quick and easy method to make attractive and tasty sandwiches.  Pinwheel sandwich  can be passed around as snack item with cocktails. You can make them in advance, relieving you of the hassle of spending your most of the time in kitchen, when you will like to chat with your guests. Children will love them, if you give these in their lunch boxes.

We can make these pinwheel sandwiches with innumerable combinations of fillings. I will show you sandwiches made with three types of fillings. One vegetarian and vegan, the other non-vegetarian, and the last a vegetarian snicker sandwich with sweet fillings.

Prep time: 15 minutes          Wait time: 1 hour

Servings: three medium sized slices of bread yield 4 pinwheel sandwich.

spinach, tomato, and peanut filling:vegan PiNwheel sandwich

Bread slices –3

Green Chutney — 1 tablespoon

Tomato ketchup–1 tablespoon

Peanut butter– 1 tablespoon

Spinach, finely chopped– 1 tablespoon

Tomato, finely diced– 1 tablespoon

Roasted peanuts, roughly grounded– 1 teaspoon

Roasted sesame seeds–1 teaspoon

Chaat masala, black pepper powder, and salt, according to taste.

  1. Remove the sides of the bread slices. Then, using a rolling pin, press the bread slices, so that they become slightly thin. This will help in making rolls.
  2. Apply green chutney on one slice. Spread chopped spinach on it, and sprinkle some salt and chaat masala. Keep it aside.
  3. Take another slice, and apply tomato ketchup on it. Then add diced tomato and sprinkle chaat masala,  salt and black pepper powder on it.
  4. On the third slice, apply peanut butter, and sprinkle toasted sesame, and toasted and grounded peanut. Sprinkle a little bit of salt on it.
  5. Now place the slices one above the other (see picture below). Hold the slices together and roll them. Now tightly wrap a cling film or butter paper around the roll, and keep in refrigerator for about an hour.
  6. Take out the role from refrigerator, and remove the wrapper. Cut thin slices (around 1 or 1 and 1/2 inch thick) of the roll.
  7. You will get beautiful pinwheel sandwiches. You can secure them with toothpick if you want.

Repeat the steps as in previous sandwich. I applied mustard sauce and placed a ham on one slice. On the next, I placed a cheese slice, and added olives, salt and pepper. On the third slice, I applied mint chutney, and spread lettuce, and sprinkled slat and pepper.

Then I placed the slices one above the other, and proceeded as I had done for previous sandwich (see pictures of steps of vegan sandwiches). See steps 5, 6, and 7 of vegan sandwich.

Snicker pinwheel sandwich

Snicker pinwheel sandwich

  1. Bread slices–3
  2. Chocolate sauce–1 tablespoon
  3. Cream–1 tablespoon
  4. Castor sugar (powdered sugar)–1 teaspoon
  5. Peanut butter–1 tablespoon (or as required)
  6. Dark chocolate –1/2 of small block.
  7. Butter–1 teaspoon

Repeat steps 1 to 4 of earlier sandwiches. This time I applied chocolate sauce on one slice, cream and sugar on the next slice, and peanut butter on the third one.

Then repeated the steps of 5, 6, and 7 of vegan sandwich.

I melted the chocolate in double boiler along with butter. For this I heated water in a pan, and then reduced the heat of the gas. I kept the chocolate on another smaller pan, and placed this pan in warm water. The chocolate started melting due to heat. I kept stirring and pressing the chocolate. W
hen most of it had melted, I removed the pan from warm water, and switched off the gas.

Then using a brush, I applied this melted chocolate on the sides of spin-rolls (see above for the pic of the sandwich). I kept these rolls in the refrigerator for 10 minutes so that the chocolate coating hardens. Our lovely snicker pinwheel sandwiches are ready to be consumed.

If your prepare them beforehand, store them in airtight container in refrigerator.
